Info
The Muifelbrouwerij is based in The Netherlands and started in 2006. Our mission is to produce excellent beers in diverse styles. The name Muifelbrouwerij might need some explanation. Muifel is a non-existing word and is derived from Megen and duivel. Megen is a small city in The Netherlands where the brewery started on small scale (20 liter brews) for private consumption. Duivel is Dutch for Devil. Muifel was the name of one of the beers from the early days, inspired by the famous Belgian Duvel beer. The Muifelbrouwerij does not own a commercial brewing facility. In stead, its beers are/were produced in several breweries in the Benelux:
(1) Maaslandbrouwerij Oss (gesloten in 2010)
(2) Proefbrouwerij Lochristi
(3) De Prael Amsterdam
(4) Klein Duimpje Hillegom
(5) Sint Servattumus Schijndel
(6) De 3 Horne Kaatsheuvel
The Muifelbieren are produced using traditional brewing methods. This means no filtration prior to bottling/kegging and no pasteurization. Beer in bottle and keg is carbonized by the natural refermentation process. Therefore, each bottle or keg contains a deposit of proteins and yeast. Keep the beer upright (in a cool, dark place) and let the beer rest for a day or so after transportation. Don’t consume a Muifelbeer directly from the fridge. Ideal serving temperatures are between 8 and 10 °C.
